We live in times of exciting development of many faith communities within the Church. Parishes everywhere are introducing new ways to encourage Catholics of all ages to deepen their relationships with God and their understanding
and practice of their faith.
Here at Saint. James, our very own parish community is blessed with an opportunity for women to share their faith, to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives and to grow in holiness by praying together and encouraging, affirming and helping each other progress on their spiritual journeys.
Faith Sharing for Women invites women of all ages to discuss how God is working in their lives, to make new friends, and deepen their love of the Lord and for each other. Women from surrounding parishes are also welcome.
Members strengthen their personal relationship with God through prayer, meditation, music and spiritual sharing. Groups use Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, as well as educational materials developed for small groups. They listen and learn from each other’s faith journeys and experience the Holy Spirit with enhanced awareness through journaling and sharing.
Faith Sharing participant Susan Pelligrino observes, "I have been involved in Faith Sharing for more than three years and it has been a journey of love, kindness, enlightenment and joy with beautiful women, coming together to praise God and give thanks for all he has done for us, our families, our community and our world. I always leave knowing what really matters and am so grateful for this gift of sharing with my sisters of faith. I leave empowered as a daughter of the King!"
If you are at the point in your journey of discerning where the Lord is leading you and feel you need some direction, talk about it with women who are discerning their next steps too! Why not “get by with a little help from your friends?”
Groups of six to ten women meet every other week for 90 minutes.Day and evening sessions are held in parishioners’ homes or in the Pastoral Center. The variety of meeting times and days ensures that there is at least one small group whose schedule can accommodate everyone. A two-hour orientation is available for new members.
Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. — Matthew 18:20.
